Curriculum

This term, Attenborough class’ topic focus is ‘Where in the World?’. This unit will be steered by Katherine Rundell’s novel ‘The Explorer’ which focuses on the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil. From this, the children will be writing their own adventure stories with a focus on setting description and developing our writing at length. In science, we will be looking at animals, habitats and environments, specifically vertebrates and invertebrates. We will be joined by Ranger Stu who will introduce us to animals from different habitats before taking a trip to Hornshurst Wood to look for mini beasts in our local environment. In Geography we will be looking at the UK and contrasting location, Australia. We will learn about hemispheres and compare how life is similar and different in both locations. Towards the end of the term, we are going to use everything we have learned about habitats and environment to make books with moving parts.
